Kids enjoy Mizzou Volleyball
Aug. 18, 2008
COLUMBIA, Mo. - This Friday, August 22, the Missouri Volleyball team will host their annual Black & Gold Match in the Hearnes Center Arena, starting at 6:30 p.m. Prior to the match, running from 4:45 to 5:45 p.m., the Tiger players will conduct a free clinic to youths aged eighth grade and younger in the Hearnes Fieldhouse. Participants in the clinic will receive free pizza before the match and T-shirts.
Pre-registration for the clinic is required and space is limited. Call Haleigh Harrold at 882-0726, or email at hthqmb@mizzou.edu to signup. Last year, nearly 1,000 Tiger fans attended the free scrimmage and over 250 youth participated in the youth clinic.
In addition, beginning September 29 and running through October 31, the Tiger team will conduct a comprehensive youth volleyball league for interested elementary school children between the third and fifth grades. The Mizzou Volleyball program in recent years has earned a healthy reputation in the community for evolving local children's interest in the sport of volleyball. From free youth clinics to weekly academies, sponsored by Mizzou in correlation with Columbia Parks & Recreation, the Mizzou Volleyball program's commitment to the young people in the area is unparallel to most programs around the nation.
